Early Years

The tale of a couple's emigration from Russia to America in search of freedom — a journey full of pitfalls and intrigue, murder and isolation — is told in Rite of Passage (1stBooks Library) by Edwin Sinaiko '31, MD'33. Years later, their children's experiences at a university reflect the parents' rite of passage. The author, now retired in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, began his work in medicine in the 1930s, practiced mainly in Chicago, and has been writing this book in his spare moments — one page or paragraph per month — since the 1950s.
