Mission – Preserve! educates
members and the public about the Lakeshore Nature Preserve
and its ecology, informs people about Preserve news and Friends
efforts, and promotes volunteer and
outreach programs.
1. The
Communications Committee will produce three newsletters per
year of minimal size (4-6 pages). The Communications
Committee will write or find people to write educational articles
including history and ecology articles. However, except
as described below, the Committee will no longer write announcements
or articles for Friends Committees.
2. The Committee
invites interested parties to write newsletter articles and announcements.

or longer –
1. The
Communications Committee welcomes informative, relevant
articles (or photos or art) from Friends Officers and Committees,

Friends members, and Preserve researchers and teachers. However,
due to space constraints, all articles must be 1 page or less. The
Communications Committee has the right to reject or delay material
depending on appropriateness and newsletter space constraints.

planning purposes, to have an article in the newsletter, space
must be requested by the assignment deadline.
3. If
you prefer, the Communications Committee will write your article,
provided that you supply ALL facts and details two weeks
before the newsletter deadline.
This ensures that the article can be assigned, any questions
answered, and an acceptable article produced.
4. All
articles are due on the newsletter deadline. If your

editor that the article will be delayed so that the editor
will hold your place. Any articles more than five days
late may not be included in the newsletter.

Communications Committee encourages the Preserve Committee,
Facilities, Planning and Management staff, and Friends Committees

constraints.

order to ensure sufficient space, please ask for announcement
space two weeks before the newsletter deadline OR submit
your announcement at least one week before the newsletter
