College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Experimental Fields
For many years the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences used the fields in the open area between Picnic Point and Frautschi  Point to grow crops.  However, in recent years these fields have not been cultivated and have returned to grass and non-native weeds.  Due to the new co-generation plant, the Walnut Street experimental fields, which have been used for student and class projects, will be eliminated.  In order to replace the lost area, CALS will use an area of the fields along Lake Mendota Drive adjacent to the Eagle Heights Community Gardens.  CALS plowed this area in 2002 to prepare it for experimental fields.
