The Influence of Alumni Next Door and Around the World
With alumni living around the world, it’s a challenge
to give them all the same access to the UW. To help ensure
a more consistent Badger experience at local alumni events,
WAA formed an Alumni Touch Points Task Force.
The
task force is a coalition of representatives from the WAA
board of directors, UW Foundation and WAA staff, and alumni
chapter leaders who meet monthly to discuss how to maintain
a customer focus in all that WAA does. The task force is a
manifestation of WAA’s promise to provide alumni with
“a world of personal connections to the UW — enriching
your heart, your soul, and your mind.”
With
25 chapters in the state of Wisconsin, WAA leaders, ambassadors,
and members reach out to graduates in communities all over
the state.

For
example, in Brown County alone, UW-Madison graduates account
for 560 educators, 479 engineers, 103 lawyers, 92 doctors,
109 nurses, 144 pharmacists and 27 veterinarians.
April’s
Badger Alumni Day in Green Bay was an example of our new efforts
to thank alumni like them by bringing a bit of UW-Madison
to their locality. Watch the Badger
Alumni Day in Green Bay slide show to see Bucky Badger
and his WAA “crew” visiting Green Bay alumni,
business leaders, neighbors and school children — our
future alumni!
Going
out beyond the state level in an ever-widening circle, WAA
annually thanks and honors five special alumni whose influence
is felt throughout the world. Please watch our biographical
videos of the 2005 Distinguished
Alumni Award recipients.
