A Message from Paula and Regina

Dear Friends,

It's been a wonderful year to be a Badger. We've been inspired by the success of our student athletes — the spectacular football season, the basketball team's unprecedented thirty wins, national championships for track and women's hockey. They make it easy to be proud to wear Badger red.

The excitement of our sports teams reflects the energy that we feel here on campus and with alumni around the world. Everywhere we look, we see grads taking an active role in shaping the future of the university and the alumni experience.

That's why we've decided to call this annual report Forward Living. At WAA, we spent the year engaging with the UW legacy in order to build its future. In the following pages, you'll find some examples of what we mean: creating a new Founders' Day tradition aimed at students, in order to teach them how to become involved alumni; drawing on a legendary professor's lectures to create a Web-based course and develop the future of alumni lifelong learning; helping promote UW health science work that will address the future needs of the state.

These stories that follow are just a few instances of the successes of our team — alumni members, volunteers, advocates, and learners, with the support of staff and board leadership.

Congratulations, fellow Badgers, and thanks for making this such an incredible year

On Wisconsin!
